Eco-Stars 4 and 5: Joanne Graham and Nadra Allen

Wharton Operations, the Wharton/SSC housekeeping team and our wonderful Housekeeping Eco-Reps are excited to award the July and August Eco-Stars honor to Joanne Graham and Nadra Allen.

Joanne has been a champion of our sustainability efforts on the overnight shift, promoting and advocating for the Wharton Sustainability Program among her peers. Nadra's continued efforts to support our recycling program at Steinberg-Dietrich Hall and in particular, at Joe's Cafe, have made her an invaluable part of advancing sustainability at Wharton. Thank you, Nadra and Joanne, for all you do!

Third Housekeeping Eco-Star Recognized

Congratulations and thank you to Jose Sanchez, the third housekeeper awarded the Eco-Star prize. The Housekeeping Eco-Reps team nominated and ultimately selected Jose for his extra efforts to ensure our cardboard recycling program stays on track. Keep up the great work, Jose!

Housekeeping Eco-Star #2: Congratulations, Pete!

Wharton/SSC Housekeeping Eco-Reps recognized their second Eco-Star this month, Pete Devalle. Pete was recognized for his contributions to our waste and recycling efforts.

Wharton/SSC Housekeeping Eco-Reps Recognize First Eco-Star

The Eco-Star program recognizes one housekeeper each month for excellence in sustainability. These housekeepers go above and beyond to make sure our sustainability efforts are implemented properly and effectively. Eco-Stars are nominated and selected by their peers. We are grateful for their contributions! Eco-Stars receive a certificate of recognition signed by Director of Operations, Maria O'Callaghan-Cassidy and a $10 gift card to Joe's Cafe.

The first Eco-Star was housekeeper Frank Moore (pictured above with other HK Eco-Reps).

Wharton/Unicco Housekeeping Team Gets First Eco-Reps

Until recently, Eco-Reps could only be students, faculty or Penn staff. For the first time on Penn’s campus, a service provider now also has Eco-Reps. In October 2010, Wharton Housekeeping attended a presentation on climate change, resource scarcity and sustainability at Wharton to learn how their actions help us reach our environmental goals. Housekeepers are on the front lines of implementing sustainability at Wharton – from recycling and waste reduction to green cleaning and indoor air quality. We rely on our housekeeping team and are excited to have Penn’s first two housekeeping Eco-Reps: Dwight McDonald and Maxine Watkins. They will meet regularly to discuss best practices and provide feedback to Wharton Operations on the effectiveness of our sustainability initiatives. Welcome Dwight and Maxine!
